Nashville rises from the ashes.

When season four of Nashville ended, we thought it was over for good.

But the country music saga has come back from the dead, having found a new home on US cable network CMT, and Showcase here in Australia.

The previous season ended on a massive cliffhanger. After sending out a distress signal, Juliette's (Hayden Panettiere) private jet disappeared off the radar.

Juliette's fate is revealed early on in the episode. While she's alive, her relationship with on-off husband Avery (Jonathan Jackson) may never recover.

Meanwhile, Rayna (Connie Britton) is struggling to keep her family and record label afloat. Juliette's accident serves as a major wake-up call to Rayna.  She takes time out to reflect on whether her life and career are heading in the right direction.

And happiness could be on the horizon for Scarlett (Clare Bowen) and Gunner (Sam Palladio), who shared a kiss in the season four finale.

Their careers may be at a standstill, but taking a break from the spotlight could be just what they need to reconnect.
